1. The explosion-proof grade of the explosion-proof motor must meet the requirements of the flammable and explosive environment; do not choose a higher grade.
2. Determine the technical indicators of the explosion-proof motor based on the actual usage. The higher the η and cos in the technical indicators, the better, saving electricity; however, this is not the case for other indicators of explosion-proof motors. For example, for motors driving axial flow pumps and fans, Tst should be in the range of 0.6~0.8, and Tm should not be high; around 1.6 can meet the usage requirements. If the buyer is a little more relaxed on these two indicators, the designer can supplement the extra function dug out here to Ist, which is to reduce Ist. This is of great practical significance for places using explosion-proof motors with smaller network capacity. Most motor loads are fans and pumps, so high Tst is not required. If the manufacturer pursues this indicator too much, the upper half of the die-casting aluminum rotor slot is designed to be very narrow, increasing unnecessary manufacturing difficulty; the use of interrupt bars and thin bars leads to more failures.
3. The protection grade of the explosion-proof motor should be moderate. The difference between IP54 and IP44 is mainly in the dust-proof function. Some buyers choose IP44 explosion-proof motors in places where IP54 should be used to save money, causing premature damage to the bearings of the explosion-proof motor. Conversely, when IP44 can meet the usage requirements, IP54 is not needed. The latter requires a rubber sealing ring, and its maintenance is not as good as the former.
Explosion-proof motor All lifting requires a lifting rod or lifting hole and is not allowed to be hung on or supported by the iron core laminations or coils. When lifting the explosion-proof motor as a whole, use slings to evenly distribute the weight and use struts to prevent the top cover from deforming. Careless handling during installation and incorrect use of lifting rods and hooks can cause much greater damage to the explosion-proof motor than years of operation. When handling the motor, be careful not to damage the windings.
