The following explains Mining Motors How to prevent motor burnout
1. Always keep the mining motor clean
During the use of mining motors, the air intake must always be kept clean. There should be no dust, water stains, or oil stains within at least 3 meters of the air intake to prevent them from being sucked into the motor. If the motor sucks in this kind of dust, oil, or water, it will form a short-circuit medium, damaging the wire insulation layer, causing inter-turn short circuits, increasing current, raising temperature, and burning out the motor. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the motor has sufficient insulation resistance and a good ventilation and heat dissipation environment, so that the motor remains safe and stable during long-term operation.
2. Operate under rated load
Motor overload operation is mainly due to a mismatch between the motor and the load, an excessively heavy load, resulting in low voltage or the driven machinery being jammed. When the motor is overloaded, the motor speed decreases, the current increases, the temperature rises, and the winding coils heat up. If the motor is overloaded for a long time, the motor will burn out due to high-temperature insulation aging failure. This is the main reason for motor burnout. Therefore, when the motor is running, attention should be paid to checking whether the transmission is flexible and reliable, and the tension of the drive belt and the coaxiality of the coupling should be checked and adjusted at any time. If jamming occurs, stop immediately, find the cause, troubleshoot, and then run it again.
3. Three-phase current must be balanced
For three-phase asynchronous motors, the difference between any one phase current and the average value of the other two phase currents should not exceed 10% to ensure the safe and normal operation of the motor. If the single-phase current value exceeds the specified limit compared to the average value of the other two phase currents, it indicates that the mining motor has a fault. The fault can only be continued after the cause is identified; otherwise, the motor will burn out.
Reminder: Only by keeping the mining motor clean, operating under the rated load, and balancing the three-phase current during operation can the normal use of the motor be guaranteed.
Why Mining Motors do vehicle motors often require repair?
Main reasons:
1. Harsh mine conditions: underground environments are often damp and dusty, easily causing motor burnout.
Drivers frequently misuse reverse braking, causing the motor to stall, the current to suddenly increase, the solder at the weld between the motor winding and the commutator to melt and be thrown off. Solder slag falls on the commutator or brush holder, causing a short circuit and burning out the motor.
2. Poor motor quality or inadequate insulation processing
As a company that has manufactured mining locomotive motors for over 40 years, we have improved motor insulation processing and welding technology, especially welding technology. Using copper body argon arc welding technology, even if the current suddenly increases, there will be no more solder splashing, solving the problem of easy motor burnout, and increasing the motor's service life by more than three times.
As Mining Motors a manufacturer of vehicles and motors, our motor repair and processes also have unique technologies. Motors are repaired as good as new, with higher quality in disassembly, assembly, and insulation processing.
