Precautions for using explosion-proof motors

Explosion-proof motors are a type of hazardous special motor equipment. Once rust and rust spots appear on the explosion-proof surface, causing poor contact at the contact surface, harmful media will take the opportunity to enter, corroding internal parts and the insulation of the windings. Once an explosion-proof motor loses its explosion-proof function, the consequences are unimaginable. Therefore, it is of great significance to promptly discover, repair, and eliminate faults in explosion-proof motors.

The causes of explosion-proof motor wear and tear and their elimination methods are as follows:

(1) Due to improper maintenance and installation, the explosion-proof surface is severely corroded. Therefore, correct installation processes must be used, and careful inspection and maintenance must be carried out according to the maintenance system.

(2) The explosion-proof surface has suffered serious mechanical damage. This is caused by improper installation, transportation, or hoisting. If repair is difficult, the same model motor must be replaced.

(3) The sealing ring is damaged and cannot be sealed. This is caused by improper tightening of the screws. Over-tightening the screws with excessive force causes the sealing ring to break; if the screws are too loose, the sealing ring will be corroded by the outside world, easily causing damage and loss of sealing function. If the sealing ring is not made of good materials, it will cause premature damage, so it must be replaced with qualified sealing materials.

(4) The explosion-proof surface is severely deformed. This is caused by insufficient precision in parts processing, improper material handling, and improper operation. It is required that the force be even during installation, and processing should be carried out according to the drawing precision and roughness. Motors with severe deformation of the explosion-proof surface are difficult to repair and need to be replaced with new motors. Slight deformation caused by improper installation can be reassembled.

(5) Poor daily maintenance. There are several aspects: too much dust and dirt, not cleaned up in time; loose screws, not checked and tightened in time; damp insulation, reduced insulation resistance; corrosion of the explosion-proof surface, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully inspect and maintain according to the maintenance procedures.

(6) Motor overheating. Common causes and solutions for motor overheating include: ventilation system failure; fan damage or incorrect model. The solution is to regularly check and maintain, and promptly address any problems; motor bearing failure, causing the motor core to rub, equivalent to motor overload. Qualified bearings must be replaced in time; if the motor is overloaded, the load should be readjusted according to the motor capacity; when the power voltage is too high or too low, the power voltage should be within the rated value; if the motor is corroded, check the sealing of the seals and screws; winding faults, such as winding short circuits, single-phase open circuits, winding grounding, etc. Should be checked and repaired promptly.
